Our Purpose

       Sharing Jesus. Making Disciples

The Four Purposes of Memorial Baptist Church

The overarching goal of Memorial Baptist Church is to make disciple makers who:

1. Live Biblically

(Deuteronomy 6:4-9; 1 Corinthians 10:31)

We see God’s Word as the guide for directing our daily lives and making us more
like Jesus.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
We see God’s word as the guide for directing our daily lives and making us more
like Jesus.

1 Corinthians 10:31
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

2. Experience Community

(Act 2:42-47)

We are created for relationships with God and others. We grow best when we are
experiencing Jesus in community. Together is better.

Acts 2:42-47
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe[a] came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

3. Serve Others

(John 20:21; Mark 10:45)

We demonstrate God’s love by serving one another and by serving those around
us. Serving others is a mark of following Jesus.

John 20:21
21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

Mark 10:45
45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

4. Share Jesus

(Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:8)

We want people to know and share the love of Jesus with those near and far.

Matthew 28:16-20
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw Him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Acts 1:8
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
